March is here! Spring! Can't say I ever liked spring because it means that the school year is almost over! I'm currently in the middle of my reading week/spring break. Haven't really done much but shop a lot. I don't know I manage to buy stuff with the limited cash I have. I finally decided to splurge and get most of the things on my wishlist. Although I did order most of the things from the Sephora online shop, I had to drive to Holt Renfrew to try out the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. I find it really interesting that Laura Mercier cosmetics have decided to only open up counters only at Holt Renfrew. I asked the sales lady there and she was like "Oh, that makes it much more exclusive!". That is true. It makes the brand more special but it's annoying to drive half an hour just to try something.
Anyways, my goal for that day was to find a light coverage that could even out my complexion more without drying out my face and causing it to break out. Now you have to get this right, tinted moisturizer is not as powerful as foundation. It's lighter in weight, coverage and smell. It's not meant to be worn for a special event. More like a daily thing that you can just slap on top of your normal moisturizer. It gives you a more natural complexion.
Before I tried it on, the sales lady applyed a layer of Laura Mercier Foundation Primer just to even out my skin even more and help the product set more evenly on top. I must say, the lady put a huge load of primer on my face. I don't know if you're supposed to apply it like that because the primer would run out in two weeks! She also applyed the primer with her fingers instead of using a sponge. She then used a sponge to apply the tinted moisturizer. She did the 5-dot thing on my face and slowly used the sponge to blend into my skin. I find that the moisturizer blends really well and it doesn't cause my face to break out at all. And because it's lighter than foundation, it only evened out my skin tone and lighted up the redness on my cheeks. I ended up getting both primer and tinted moisturizer.
The product really isn't cheap but it's always good to invest in a good coverup if you can't find a good one at the local drugstore. I think the next thing I'll try after I finish the tinted moisturizer will be the Silky Creme Foundation from Laura.
Note: I have sensitive skin that reacts to most face products including some mineral makeup. I'm not acne-prone but I do have some pinkish blemishes on my face. I also have combination skin.
Note2: I have medium tone skin on the tan side. I am using the Sand tone for the normal tinted moisturizer. Many reviewers have said that the oil-free one is really drying.
